Cardinal Chaput of Denver delivered a polite but firm reminder of how one should run a society to Europe. I am not a Catholic, but he earned some respect from me today.
And his recounting of televised shows on "How to Cook a Crucifix" I found annoying as no doubt the producers desired, but his tales of sacramentental confessions being recorded without the knowledge of the confessor, and replayed, I found truly shocking. Again, I'm not a Catholic, and so I think the notion of confession to be a requirement to be incorrect, although at times it can be useful. But still, this is at the core of their faith, and is a very serious matter.
I am dismayed.
